Hands shaping a pot on the wheel A workshop class around the big table Painted ceramic baby hand and footprints

Some things are worth making slowly.

Westbourne's own pottery studio, a short walk from the Victorian Arcade and Alum Chine beach. Everyone is welcome at the wheel.

Jo shaping a clay figure in the studio

Welcome

Hello, I'm Jo.

I've spent ten years making, teaching and firing, and now my wheels and my kiln have a home in Westbourne. Come in for an hour or an evening, sit down at the wheel, and see what your hands can do. Never touched clay before? Most people haven't. That's the fun part.

Wessex FM Best New Business winner, ten years at the wheel.

Every class starts the same way. An apron, a wedge of clay, and no idea what you're capable of yet. Pick a day and find out.

Fresh from the kiln

Everything here was made by someone who walked in as a beginner. The shelf changes every week, and your first bowl could be on it.

Around the kiln

Most people come for one class and stay for the company. Start with a taster, settle into a weekly group, and when the Kiln Club opens you can rent bench time, use the wheels and fire your own work here.
